JAMES (Jim) WOOLWINE, CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD
James (Jim) Woolwine is one of the founders of Presidio Bank and has over five decades of experience in the banking industry. Since 2006, he has laid the foundation for Presidio Bank’s growth. Before founding Presidio Bank, Jim was the former Chairman of Golden Gate Bank in San Francisco, where he was a member of the group that acquired the bank in 1984. He then became President of Golden Gate Bank in 1985 which later became a subsidiary of Greater Bay Bancorp. which was later sold to Wells Fargo. Beginning in 1979, Jim headed Bank of California's Northern California Banking Division. He worked for First Chicago from 1972-1979, where his last position held was that of Senior Vice President and head of the Los Angeles Regional Office. Jim currently serves on the Board of Regents of the Hanna Boys Center. Jim has served on the Community Bank Advisory Board of the Federal Reserve. He is past board member of Delta Dental of California, Saint Francis Memorial Hospital, California Bankers Association, Western Independent Bankers, The Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, San Francisco Boys and Girls Club, The Senior Olympic Games, and Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame. He is past Chairman of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce. Jim also served on the board of the Bay Area Sports Organizing Committee where he chaired the San Francisco Bay Area’s Bid for 2012 Olympic Games. He was also the recipient of the Man and Youth Award from San Francisco Boys and Girls Club. He earned his B.A. Degree from the University of Notre Dame and his M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Chicago.
Steve Heitel, Chief Executive Officer
Steve has over three decades of leadership experience in commercial banking. He joined Presidio Bank as President in 2008 and was promoted to CEO in 2009. Before joining Presidio Bank, Steve served as President and CEO of Mid-Peninsula Bank (Palo Alto) the $1 Billion flagship of Greater Bay Bancorp. He previously served as President & CEO of San Jose National Bank and as Executive Vice President of Cupertino National Bank, also part of Greater Bay. Previous experience includes executive roles within Bank of America, heading the bank’s Bay Area commercial banking activities, focusing on middle market businesses with revenues from $50 million to $500 million. Steve is involved in a variety of civic and non-profit organizations in his community. He currently serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Children’s Health Council, a Palo Alto based not-for-profit focusing on child and adolescent mental health issues. Steve also serves on the Board of B.T. Mancini Company, Inc., a privately-held flooring and architectural products contractor headquartered in San Jose. Steve holds a B.S. Degree in Finance from the University of San Francisco.
Clay Jones, President
Clay Jones has nearly three decades of experience as a proven leader in the establishment and growth of community and commercial banking organizations. He assumed the role of President of Presidio Bank in 2018, overseeing all banking offices. Clay’s primary responsibilities include revenue initiatives, customer experience, personnel recruiting, and risk management. His previous role at Presidio Bank includes the initial leadership role for the Bank’s presence in Palo Alto and San Mateo. Prior to joining Presidio Bank in 2010, Clay was the organizing and initial President and CEO of New Resource Bank, widely considered the first sustainably focused community bank in the nation. Earlier in his banking career, he served in ever increasing corporate capacities for subsidiaries of Greater Bay Bancorp and Comerica Bank, including his position as Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of Cupertino National Bank and Executive Vice President and Manager of the Venture Banking Group. Clay is very active in his community serving a variety of advisory and board roles in the Bay Area community. He serves as an Executive Board Member of JobTrain, an educational and training institution serving low-income individuals and their families. Additionally, Clay sits on the Board of Redwood City, San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce, and is a student advisor to Peninsula College Fund, that provides scholarships to low-income, first generation college students. He graduated from the University of the Pacific with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration.
KAROL WATSON, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, CHIEF OPERATIONS OFFICER
Karol Watson has over thirty years of management experience in the banking industry. She balances compliance and operational efficiency with high quality client service. She joined Presidio Bank in 2011 as Senior Vice President Loan Operations Manager and subsequently promoted seven years later to Chief Operations Officer responsible for leading the Central Services, Cash Management Operations, Branch Operations, and Loan Operations teams. Prior to joining Presidio Bank, Karol was the SVP/Manager of Loan Operations at Tamalpais Bank (later acquired by Union Bank) responsible for overall management of loan operations for $650 million commercial bank. Previous to that, she was at Greater Bay Bank as SVP/Loan Service Manager managing the Loan Services Group for the $7 billion bank holding company. Outside her professional career, she enjoys supporting various local charities and participates in numerous Bay Area half marathons. Karol also enjoys hiking and spending time with her family.
Mary Leonard-Wilson, Executive Vice President, Chief Credit Officer
Mary Leonard-Wilson started her banking career in 1978 in New York City with National Westminster Bank where over 14 years she held a variety of roles in commercial lending, including managing middle market and large corporate lending teams. She moved to the Bay Area in 1994 and joined National Bank of the Redwoods in Santa Rosa, serving as VP/Commercial Loan Department Manager, SVP/Senior Loan Officer; and EVP/Chief Credit Officer. In 2005 she joined Charter Oak Bank in Napa as EVP/Chief Credit Officer. Mary joined Presidio Bank during its formation in July 2006. As an active member in the community, she has served on the Loan Committee of Women's Initiative; on the Finance Committee and as Board/Executive Committee/Treasurer of the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce; and as Member of the California Bankers Association’s Lenders Task Force. Mary has a B.A. in English from Colgate University.
Edward Murphy, Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
Edward (Ed) has been the CFO of Presidio Bank since its opening in July 2006. He has over two decades of experience in community banking, serving as either a bank finance officer or as an investment banker providing capital markets and M&A services to community banks. While at Presidio Bank, Ed has managed the Bank’s growth from the start-up stage, including executing successful preferred stock, common stock and subordinated debt transactions. Before joining Presidio Bank, he was Vice President of Corporate Finance at RBC Capital Markets from 2003 to 2005 where he specialized in financial institutions M&A, private and public offerings of debt and equity. Ed is a CFA charter holder and member of the CFA Society of San Francisco. He is also a board member of JPR Foundation that funds U.C. Davis’s Huntington’s Disease Clinic. Ed earned both his B.A. and M.B.A. from the University of Southern California.
TODD ALLEN, EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, NORTH BAY MARKET PRESIDENT
Todd Allen is Executive Vice President and North Bay Market President. With nearly two decades of experience, from Financial Sales Officer to Regional Vice President at North Bay’s West America; he became Senior Vice President at Greater Bay Bank Marin and subsequently joined Presidio Bank as the current Executive VP. His extensive expertise in sales management and training, commercial real estate, and private banking assists non-profit businesses, commercial, and real estate clients to meet their financial needs. With a business development focus on loan and deposit growth, Todd expanded the presence of the Bank’s regional market presence in Marin and Sonoma counties. His North Bay team soon after advanced into the largest loan portfolio in the bank. Outside his financial profession, he operates on a number of community boards, assist with team management of multiple Marin County youth athletic organizations, and volunteers at the North Bay’s Children Center board as Vice President. In his leisure time, Todd loves the outdoors, enjoys hiking, kayaking and active in outrigger canoe. Todd graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a B.S. in Marketing.
Richard Tong, Executive Vice President, East Bay Market President
Richard Tong has over three decades in financial services. He is well known in the East Bay Community as a proven leader in the banking and finance industry. Richard is responsible for leading Presidio Bank’s East Bay Market operation delivering customized service and building strong business relationships. Before joining Presidio Bank, he was Senior Vice President and Regional Banking Manager at City National Bank for Northern California. He also served in executive management roles at Citibank as the Commercial Markets Manager for teams in the East Bay and Silicon Valley. Richard is a passionate volunteer in his community. Since 1997 he has been a volunteer and board member for Rebuilding Together Oakland | East Bay, assisting low income, elderly and disabled homeowners to remain safely in their homes. Beginning in 2015 he and his wife volunteer as Canine Training Partners for Dogs for Diabetics helping to train these lifesaving dogs and he was recently elected to their Board of Directors. Additionally, he serves on the board of the Walnut Creek Library Foundation, which funds library facilities, collections, programs and services for both the Walnut Creek and Ygnacio Valley public libraries. Richard is a graduate from U.C. Berkeley with a B.A. Degree in Sociology.
ANNETTE GELINAS, SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF MARKETING
Annette Gelinas is a creative, passionate and results-driven strategic brand and marketing champion. Her expertise lies in successfully conceptualizing, implementing and overseeing innovative, multi-faceted marketing strategies to drive sales, market impact, brand positioning and create distinctive competitor differentiation.
Annette has nearly three decades of experience in a variety of areas, including marketing, sales, investor relations, and communications. Responsibilities have included brand development / brand revaluation, copy and script writing, design briefing, events management, site launches, strategic partnerships, video production, annual report direction, crisis planning, sales promotions, and advertising. Annette is actively involved with a wide variety of community and philanthropic organizations. Notable organizations she has assisted include Habitat for Humanity International, Ruth Bancroft Garden, Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce, and Bay Area Council. Annette is a graduate of St. Mary’s College with a B.S. in Biology. She is also a graduate of Contra Costa Leadership.
